Discover How I Did It — And How You Can Too!

In May of 2024, I found myself fired from my job

for the second time, the first time during COVID, and I had just had enough.

I couldn't depend on a job after that,

so I made the decision to try doing my own thing.

I had a background in customer service for major corporations, so I figured if I combined those skills with the loc techniques I was learning, I could get started.

I started my business as a beginner loctician and began figuring out what actually worked in the real world.

This Beginner Loctician Workshop is designed to show you the mindset I had,

the exact way I was getting clients to book me, and how keeping track of my money

with one system, made it easy to see my numbers going up.

I invested in myself.

I paid for classes and training because I really wanted to learn the tricks of the trade.

But once I got into the real world, I realized something:

Beginners need more than a technique and hands-on to compete in the LOC world.

After my first mentor’s class, I still needed more hands-on experience to really grasp the concept.

The class was great, but as a beginner, I needed to see it and do it on real people.

So I found another stylist who could work with me in person and help me develop my skills.

Her course was great too.

But I was still a beginner with no way out.

I had to make this business make sense.

That’s when I stopped trying to do everything and created a simple formula for myself.

The 1-1-1 Method

One technique. One way to get clients. One yes. Repeat.

I stopped trying to learn every technique at once.

I focused on one technique I could get better at.

I focused on one way to get in front of potential clients.

Then I focused on getting one person to say yes.

And once I got that yes, I repeated the process.

That simple focus gave me real clients, real practice, and real numbers I could track.

I combined my customer service skills, what I was learning about locs, and the marketing skills I already had.

And I kept repeating what worked.

By the November of 2025, I was already on track toward six figures — and I didn’t even realize it.

At first, I used to be intimidated by the thought of working on someone’s hair and possibly causing a problem they would later need repaired.

Now I approach potential clients with confidence, thinking about all the ways I can help improve their hair.

That confidence didn’t come from practicing on a mannequin alone.

Because a beginner doesn’t know that a mannequin is nothing like a real head.

When I finished practicing on the mannequin and started working with real clients,

I realized how different the experience really was.

Real hair.

Real appointments.

Real questions.

Real problems.

Real people depending on you to know what you’re doing.

That experience showed me what I still needed to learn.

Now I want to help other beginner locticians see the things I was doing that slowed me down, what I stopped doing, and what I focused on instead.

Inside the workshop, you’ll learn:

Why the popular crochet method

didn’t work for me as a beginner —

and what I did instead

How choosing the right mentor can help or hurt your progress

How I used the 1-1-1 Method to keep things simple

How I started getting real clients to book

How I tracked my money so I could actually see my business growing

How I went from being fired to building toward six figures as a beginner loctician

I’m excited to share what I learned with other beginner locticians like me.

The ones investing in themselves.

The ones taking classes.

The ones trying to learn the trade.

And the ones who are ready to stop feeling like they have to know everything before they can start building.

One easy technique. One easy way to get clients. One yes. Repeat.

That’s how I made it make sense.
